The urge to replicate our favorite science fiction movies is everywhere, but most prominently visible in our billionaires. Just think of Space X, the Metaverse, or the doomed submersible. They all started with a grand, seemingly outlandish idea. Elon Musk probably watched Star Wars and was like "I wanna do that." I'm sure Mark Zuckerberg, on his 18th re-watch of the Matrix, thought "Hey, that's actually not a bad idea." And Hamish Harding probably did a cursory skim of Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and thought, "What could be the harm?"

It proves that most adults are just children in more expensive clothes and that with all the resources at their fingertips, they will act like children role-playing Star Trek. The rest of us will have to toil away in the human realm forever, and maybe that's not such a bad thing. And we can look at these memes to let our minds wander.
